IN THE FACE OF BRUTALISM
In collaboration with MenAsWell, I am pleased to participate in the “In the face of brutalism” project, to fight violence and abuse and create a just and inclusive society based on the pillars of consent and freedom. Together with Thomas, Ulas, Sha, and Irena, a team of talented artists and creatives, we have created a collection of works that include photography, poetry, and graphic illustration to spread a positive message. By sharing these works, we hope to send a powerful message that promotes and highlights the truth about the lack of respect and shame associated with abuse and violence. We want survivors to feel protected and included, not alone and abandoned as is often the case. Inspired by Europride in Belgrade ’22, we took the idea of postage stamps from Yugoslavia and created brutalistic icons, with heroic men shooting over them.
The icons are each from a different setting in Dutch culture, politics, home, media, and industry.
The Tweede Kamer, Den Haag, is the seat of government.
You’ll see eight men in the artworks before you—eight men who once stood tall in the face of violence and eight men who now stand tall in the face of brutalism.
Each protagonist represents the man in the photo, standing in front of the same building with respect, human dignity, and their boundaries which you shouldn’t cross… How poor is being, which don’t understand these basics? We all deserve to be loved and respected. Any form of aggression shouldn’t have a place in this world… Love & peace to all

Let’s be the change.
